What is Witch Hazel?
Witch Hazel, also known as winterbloom, snapping hazel and spotted alder, is a powerful little plant that contains therapeutic and aromatic components. Native to the Northeastern United States this witch hazel bears delicate golden flowers and seed capsules in late autumn, after the leaves have fallen.
Witch hazel is renowned for its natural astringent properties, making it a popular ingredient in skincare and wellness products. It helps to tighten pores, reduce inflammation, and soothe irritation, making it an effective remedy for acne, razor burn, and minor skin abrasions. Traditionally, it has been used to calm insect bites, relieve sunburn, and support wound healing, thanks to its gentle yet powerful ability to cleanse and refresh the skin.
Beyond skincare, witch hazel has been valued for centuries for its medicinal and household benefits. Native American tribes used witch hazel extract to treat swelling, infections, and sore muscles, a practice later adopted by early settlers. Today, it remains a go-to natural remedy for everything from soothing tired skin to freshening the scalp. Its mild, yet effective properties make it a versatile staple in both traditional herbal medicine and modern personal care routines.

The Real Deal
always
from forests,
never farmed
We harvest our witch hazel where it grows naturally—on 33,000 lush acres of untouched New England forest.
Following the standards set by the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) for active naturals, we harvest mature witch hazel plants while dormant during the winter months. These plants have naturally shed their leaves for the season and have been exposed to the elements for years, resulting in bark with the most potent active ingredient. In essence, we capture wild-grown plants at their peak potency in their native habitats, never on cultivated farms. Additionally, our sustainable harvesting practices are annually certified organic and actually promote forest regrowth by selectively removing mature plants, allowing younger witch hazel and other hardwoods to thrive beneath the opened canopy.

Sustainable harvesting practices from day one.
Ensuring witch hazel and the forests that support it continue to thrive for generations.
