About Us

Our Story

Our History

For over 150 years, we have harvested our certified organic Witch Hazel using sustainable methods throughout New England. The most therapeutic, powerful components are then extracted and purified through our exclusive, proprietary distillation process—the only USP approved method for creating pure witch hazel—bringing you highly efficacious, best-in-class witch hazel skincare.

1866

Reverend Thomas Newton Dickinson establishes the first commercial witch hazel distillery, bottling the extract and setting the standard for its production.

1895

Thomas Newton Dickinson forms a partnership with his son, Edward Everett Dickinson Sr., to expand the business.

1897

Edward Everett Dickinson Sr. takes over the company, renaming it E.E. Dickinson & Company, and significantly grows the brand through innovative advertising strategies.

1997

Dickinson Brands Inc. is established, merging the heritage brands Dickinson's and T.N. Dickinson's, both founded in the early 1800s

Sustainable Practices From The Beginning

We take tremendous pride in how we make our products—starting from where, when, and how we harvest our witch hazel—through to our distillation process. As perfectionists in our craft for nearly two centuries, we developed eco-conscious practices because it was the right thing to do – long before consumers actively sought it out, as they do today.

“This company is my family’s and my life’s work. It has been amazing to see how our commitment to our brands & people, and to authenticity, sustainability and clean ingredients, has flourished, bringing consumers the products they love, that they can feel great about choosing-today, and in the future.”
